A huge Bitcoin related scam is now reportedly targeting residents of Winnipeg, Canada. A native grocery owner revealed that alot of of his customers were victims of such scammers.
In line with a recent report by Global News, Husni Zeid placed a sign on the Bitcoin machine he has installed within his store, asking people to exercise some extra caution with reference to phone scams that invite fake Bitcoin investments.
While adding further, Zeid told the native media outlets that:
“A lot of individuals are receiving phone calls saying that they need to transfer their money to Bitcoin regarding CRA; we’ve had Manitoba Hydro also .”
Bitcoin Scams Are Really Awful
He added that the scams have happened repeatedly several times every week , and states that they receive complaints from victims continuously.
Aura Morissette, an employee of the grocery, revealed about a woman who was profoundly suffering from such a scam:
“Yesterday a mom was in here and she said that she had transferred all of her savings to them and was just crying. It had been heartbreaking that she fell for it; it was sad, and all she kept saying was ‘I have kids.’ It was awful.”
The employee also added that when someone is purchasing bitcoin at their machine while on the phone, they often warn individuals that a scam could also be underway.
Increasing Complaints Everyday
An another report from Winnipeg share some similarities with another scam as reported earlier on 19th June. Therein, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or RCMP, allege that fraudsters impersonated the native regulatory authorities so as to scam Bitcoins from their victims.
