Leading Ethereum [ETH] based browser wallet service provider MetaMask has launched its mobile app for both iOS & Android devices.
MetaMask users can now manage their crypto wallets, store non-fungible tokens [NFTs], sign messages, as well as play blockchain-powered games from their mobile devices.
Users of the wallet’s desktop browser extension can now import their entire transaction history into MetaMask Mobile by just scanning a QR code.
MetaMask, developed & launched by ConsenSys, has exclusively been a Chrome & Firefox extension since launching in 2016.
ConsenSys describes MetaMask Mobile as “simplifying” the method to start using decentralized ‘Web3’ applications. Users within 34 countries can now buy Ethereum directly in the mobile application by debit cards, Apple Pay, along with other local payment methods. Dan Finlay, MetaMask founder added:
“We are thrilled to offer a browsing experience purpose-built for DApps, and allow users to seamlessly sync with their desktop MetaMask accounts.”
ConsenSys launched the beta version of MetaMask Mobile earlier in the year 2019, quickly attracting over 135k users.
The mobile app features a built-in browser designed to bolster the safety of Web3 users, permitting passwords and keys to be generated directly on a user’s device instead of over the web.
While explaining further, ConsenSys founder & Ethereum co-creator Joseph Lubin, added:
“What smartphones have done for Web2, we believe MetaMask Mobile will do a lot more for Web3.”
ConsenSys has also confirmed that it’s acquired J.P. Morgan’s private enterprise version of Ethereum, Quorum.
