Leading messaging giant LINE has just launched a wallet for users to manage virtual assets & a blockchain platform where developers can issue their own tokens, tokenize digital assets, & even execute Dapps.
LVC Corporation, operator of the company’s cryptocurrency & blockchain businesses, & LINE TECH PLUS PTE launched the platform, LINE Blockchain Developers as well as BITMAX Wallet earlier on Wednesday. The wallet services for now are solely available in Japan, where LINE is especially renowned.
The company is developing the proprietary LINE Blockchain & even issued its own token LINK [LN] for trading against several leading cryptocurrency assets along with Bitcoin [BTC] & Ethereum [ETH] earlier in 2018.
LINE also started offering trading services via its cryptocurrency exchange Bitbox. It had been approved for a cryptocurrency business license earlier in Sept last year.
The company established the Line Blockchain Lab earlier in the month of April 2018, which has been tasked to form the Line Token economy.
LINE, with over 84 Mln users in its messaging application, aims to leverage its existing network to jumpstart the event of its token economies and accelerate adoptions of the several DApps built on its proprietary blockchain platform.
The company is one among a couple of messaging apps that have tried to develop blockchain technology & thereby issue their own tokens, but it stands out for the progress it’s made.
Another renowned Canadian messaging company Kik and Russia-originated Telegram have met with lawsuits from the United States SEC [Securities and Exchange Commission] for their controversial fundraising processes referred ICO [Initial Coin Offering], while American messaging giant Facebook’s stablecoin project Calibra is halted for now & facing several severe challenges from the United States legislators & financial authorities.
