Cryptocurrency Mining & Trading Bill Approved By The Paraguayan Senate.

The Paraguayan Senate passed laws controlling cryptocurrency mining and trading earlier this week. The law will be debated in Paraguay's Chamber of Deputies in 2022, according to Paraguayan Sen. Fernando Silva Facetti, one of the bill's three writers, who verified the news on Twitter. According to the law, miners – whether persons or businesses – will have to acquire authorization for industrial power usage before applying for a license. As per the bill, the Industry and Commerce Secretariat of Paraguay would permit and monitor crypto mining inside the nation, with the National Securities Commission, Anti-Money Laundering Office, and National Electricity Administration also overseeing the practice. Despite the absence of the idea of exchange, the law provides a register for any person or legal body intending to offer crypto trading or custody services to third parties. As per the law, Paraguay utilizes just one-third of the energy produced, and if controlled, crypto mining activity may approach "thousands of megawatts of electrical usage that Paraguay presently possesses as surplus." Another of the primary draws for mining businesses is the cheap cost of power in Paraguay, which is roughly $0.05 per kilowatt-hour, according to Paraguayan lawmaker Carlos Rajala, who added that nearly 100 percent of energy output originates from hydroelectric means. In July, Rejala introduced legislation to govern the ownership and registration of cryptocurrency and cryptocurrency mining enterprises.
