A brief Cloudflare outage earlier today in the morning at around 10:00AM took down several of cryptocurrency information and trading websites together with Coinbase & CoinMarketCap. The associated issues were however cleared up around 10:18AM and most websites appear to be running once again.
Cloudflare, a CDN provider, initially detected the outage at 1:52PM UTC/9:52 AM and the affected websites went down shortly once after, wreaking hovac on automatic valuation engines. For a flash several price widgets displayed a price around as low as $26 USD per bitcoin.
Coinbase detected and thereby implemented a fix, after this outage.
Poloniex also ‘noted‘ the outage, however it explained that no funds were lost while Itbit reported that the front-end net server failed by no back-end functions crashed.
The identified issue, Cloudflare, is a service employed by several websites to speed up the delivery of information and media over the web.
