The new announced was revealed by Binance’s CEO, Changpeng Zhao, who simply tweeted #BNB — showcasing the new emoji.
As reported earlier, branded hashtags are some of the quite famous services offered by Twitter to high value brands. While the sole confirmed report cites costs of $1 Mln, that quote was for billion-dollar corporations within the Super Bowl. The worth seems to be significantly lower for cryptocurrency firms, though how much still remains unknown.
In Binance’s case, the branded hashtag appears to be a part of a marketing push for its anniversary.
#BinanceTurns3 Contests & Promotions
The clue for this new emoji is the #BinanceTurns3 hashtag, that also includes the Binance emoji as the solely specific hashtag to do so.
The exchange appears to have revealed a viral marketing campaign to let users receive a Binance non-fungible token. Participants must follow Binance on all major social media and share its content with the anniversary hashtag.
The contest lasts for 7 days until 7th July, one week before the anniversary date on 14th July.
It is likely that the exchange wants to make buzz in anticipation of the date, and being the 3rd crypto to receive the emoji hashtag are often helpful for that goal.
Since its launch earlier in 2017, the exchange quickly grew to become the leading crypto-to-crypto exchange by volume by the end of this year. In subsequent years, it continued to expand as its staff count reached the 1,000 mark – up from 50 within its early months.
The exchange has made steps that some see as monopolizing the industry, most notably by purchasing CoinMarketCap.
