Crypto holders within Austria will now be able to spend their crypto assets at over 2,500 points of acceptance using A1 Payment - one among the leading mobile network operator service provider within the country.
In line with an official announcement published by the Austrian fintech firm, Salamantex, their “Crypto Payment Service Software” is now collaborated into the A1 Payment platform. Merchants will now be able to accept Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH], or Dash, rather than cash or credit cards, starting in summer 2020.
Salamantex also praised the country’s recent stance towards switching to cashless payment transactions “as far as possible.”
The CEOO of Salamantex, Markus Pejacsevich, added:
“Our goal is to transform paying with digital currencies at the checkout as easy and natural as we've been used to with credit cards for many years. With A1, we've a partner for the Austria-wide roll-out who, a bit like us, is convinced of this payment system of the longer term and works towards making payment with digital assets accessible to the broad masses.”
Salamantex’s “Crypto Payment Service Software” aims to permit a roll-out of the cryptocurrency payment service in neighboring countries also.
Earlier in 2019, A1 started accepting cryptos as payment at 7 selected shops within Austria. This permits A1 customers to buy services using the Chinese payment operators, Alipay along with WeChatPay.
