Amazon V.P. : ‘No’ To Any Cryptocurrency Project For Now, But ‘Yes’ To Blockchain.

A senior official within a recent ‘interview‘ said, Amazon would solely be considering discussing the creation of its own cryptocurrency like Facebook’s recently launched ‘Libra’ in a few years of time.

“It’s fresh, it’s speculative; at Amazon, we really don’t cope with the speculative, atleast for now,” he said.

Facebook continues to cause a stir in ‘cryptocurrencies‘, monetary and government circles within the wake of the primary promotional material around its Libra going live.

Billed as a network designed to permit users to transfer money like messages or images on social media, the scheme has ‘attracted‘ scorn for its technical setup as well as roadmap, whereas some lawmakers have already gone as far as to request the firm ‘halting‘ its further development altogether.

As a potential alternate to the standard fiat money and central banks, several other commentators have advised some governments, for instance Russia, can look forward to ‘ban‘ Facebook and its any other product supporting ‘Libra’.

Depending on how the house evolves, however, the retail giant is expected to might rethink the Libra-style cryptocurrency feature within the mid-term.

“At Amazon, we cope with lots and lots of data, so I’ll be happy to have that conversation 2 or 3 years from now,” Gaulthier added.
