The world’s 5th largest air company by revenue in this year, Air France-KLM hopes blockchainwouldoffer anadditionaladvantageous travelexperience for patronsthatisadditionallyprofitable for suppliers,especiallyby reducingseveral intermediaries.
The Vice Presidentfor Strategy and Innovation ‘Sonia Barriere,’ at Air France-KLM, thinks that blockchaincould revolutionise exchangesamongthe travel industrybothfor the patronsand firms.
With the new deal, Air France-KLM joins the ranks ofalternativeairlines that haveantecedentlypartnered with the ‘Winding Tree’.
As reported earlier,the corporatealready has contracts with Lufthansa, Swiss Air, Air NewZealand, Austrian andBrusselsAirlines, and Eurowings.In line with this, theopen sourcetravel platformconjointlyworks withone amongthe largesthotelchains in Scandinavia and Baltic Region, NordicChoiceHotels.

Earlier, Russian airline S7 has partnered with the state-ownednatural gascompany Gazprom to use blockchain-basedsmartcontracts forairlinefuelling on domestic flights. Even Singapore Airlines has launched a blockchain-based loyalty cryptowallet in partnership with the tech. giant ‘Microsoft’.
